A Little Water Never Hurt Anyone
“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst.” -Matthew 18:20
A little water couldn’t dampen our parishioners’ spirits where food, fun and fellowship were waiting! Last Sunday, despite a sometimes heavy rainfall, the Parish Picnic went off as planned. We simply adapted and moved indoors. The 10:30am Mass was standing room only in the church and both the Parish Center and the gym were filled to capacity afterwards. The food was delicious, thanks to Mike Cipriano in the kitchen, the Knights braving the rain to cook the burgers and hot dogs, and the Women’s Society efficiently serving picnic fare to a steady stream of hungry parishioners. To cap it off, Two Brothers Ice Cream Truck, positioned outside the parish center back door, provided ice cream treats for everyone. While we were not able to squeeze in the Soccer Challenge, Cornhole Tournament or Pie Eating Contest due to the weather, no one seemed to mind. Everyone was having too good of a time simply visiting with friends, new and old. The only one who expressed any displeasure was Moose (Fr. Donahue’s dog) because people were not sharing their ice cream with him.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this a wonderful event–volunteers simply too numerous to count. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! And thank you to all our parishioners who proved once again that nothing will stop us from gathering in His name!
